Hal has over 14 years of tax and accounting experience. Hal has served business clients ranging from sole proprietors to privately owned companies with multiple locations. Hal has experience in accounting in construction, printing, electronics manufacturing, retail, medical professionals, entertainment and recording industries. In addition to public accounting, he has served as the Director of Finance for a California trade association and as controller for several corporations. These corporations were involved in management consulting for life insurance companies in merger and acquisition support, software publishing, medical and rehab equipment and pharmaceutical sales, and restaurants. Hal's background in both public accounting and private industry gives him a unique perspective to the financial and management needs of business owners.

As controller, Hal has been able streamline his clients month-end close to three to six days. By learning the capabilities of the firm's accounting software, accounting processes and staff, he has created systems that shorten the data entry process. Also, in most cases, this is done with resources already in existence.

Hal has developed systems to predict receipt of accounts receivable and databases that predict when vendor checks will clear the bank. These cash management techniques added $24,000 to one company's bottom line. Hal's budgeting experience ranges from a corporation with nine locations to a multimillion-dollar budget of a corporate division. His forecasts that have been recognized for their professional content and one has resulted in a $1,000,000 credit facility. He has performed financial analysis to monitor compliance with loan covenants and financial modeling to determine the viability of a project.

Hal has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting from Minot State University, Minot, ND and completed graduate work in accounting at California State University -- Sacramento. He is also a graduate of the College for Financial Planning in Denver, CO. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the California Society of CPAs, and the Financial Planning Association of Northern California.
